Qatar - Global conference on arbitration from tomorrow

Doha: The Qatar International Centre for Conciliation and Arbitration (QICCA) at Qatar Chamber announced the agenda of the '4th World Conference on International Arbitration' which kicks off on Tuesday March 22 at the Ritz Carlton Hotel under the patronage of H E Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.

Held under the theme 'Impact of Arbitration on Achieving a Suitable Environment for Investment', the conference also marks the 5th anniversary of the issuance of the Qatar Arbitration Law and the issuance of QICCA's new rules for conciliation and arbitration.

The two-day conference will be inaugurated by Minister of Justice H E Masoud bin Mohamed Al Ameri in the presence of QC Chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani and QICCA Board Member for International Relations Dr Sheikh Thani bin Ali Al Thani, as well as a galaxy of arbitration senior experts from Qatar and other countries.

The conference includes 8 sessions that highlight many important issues, including recent trends in the rules of international arbitration centres, recent international trends in the settlement of commercial disputes and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on arbitration proceedings.

Discussions also review third-party financing for arbitration in international commercial disputes and arbitrator and arbitration litigation, in addition to enforcement of foreign arbitration awards in Qatar. The conference further sheds light on the impact of international arbitration in developing and boosting investment environment and many important issues, including most important amendments on rules of international arbitration organizations. 

The event brings together a galaxy of arbitration senior experts from Qatar and other countries and about 30 prominent speakers to share their insights and expertise about arbitration and its impact on the investment environment.
