(MENAFN- KNN India) Govt to tap defence shipbuilding potential of MSMEs in Goa

Panaji, Mar 19 (KNN) In an effort to explore the defence shipbuilding potential of MSMEs in Goa, Defence Secretary Ajay Kumar held discussion with the industry leaders of the state.

All the key stakeholders including from local shipyards briefed Kumar about the capabilities of Goa's maritime sector.

They also informed him about the challenges faced by the local players and the opportunities for domestic manufacturing. 

Kumar has assured that the Defence Ministry will help MSMEs to gain defence contracts which has been dominated by the private sector. 

He was also informed that the various projects will benefit the sector such as the Konkan Maritime Cluster coming up at Verna.

Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Goa Shipyard Ltd convened the meeting. (KNN Bureau)
