Lebanon, Jordan ink agreement to transport electricity through Syria

(MENAFN) On Wednesday, Lebanon inked a deal with Jordan to transport electricity via its adjacent country Syria.

The deal is a proportion of efforts to make up for the damaging power blockades in crisis-hit Lebanon.

The agreement is going to secure "250 megawatts of electricity to Lebanon, in cooperation with Jordan and with support of Syria," based on the Lebanese Energy Minister Walid Fayad statement in a joint press conference with his Jordanian and Syrian partners Saleh al-Kharabsheh and Ghassan al-Zamel.

Al-Kharabsheh stated that the deal has a crucial significance as it comes at a vital time for Lebanon. Al-Zamel, in the meantime, stated that Syria has finished “all arrangements for electric linkage from Jordan to Lebanon”.
