Under the title 'Egypt's Identity – Culture & the Question of the Future', the fair is organised amid coronavirus (Covid-19) precautionary measures.
Late Egyptian writer and novelist Yehia Haqi was chosen as the main character of the book fair, while late writer Abdel Tawab Youssef was chosen as the main character for the Children's Book Fair.

The exhibition management announced a new award this year for the best Arab publishing house, in co-operation with the Arab Publishers Union, in addition to other prizes offered by the exhibition every year, with the results to be announced on the last day of its activities.
