Former Lebanese PM Hariri calls off political work

(MENAFN) On Monday, a top Lebanese official declared that he “suspended” efforts in the country’s politics, while complaining about international impact and a divided people.

Three-time Premier Saad Hariri noted, during a media briefing streamed on TV, he will not participate in the new parliamentary elections in addition to not filing any proposals from his political party the “Future Movement.”

Hariri reported, “I am convinced that there is no room for any positive opportunity for Lebanon in light of Iranian influence, international confusion, national division, sectarianism, and state weariness.”

He stated, “I announce the suspension of my work in political life.” Also, he requested that his party get through the governmental elections scheduled for 25May. He further said, “Our decision is to suspend any direct role or responsibility in power and politics in its traditional sense.”
