Doha: The sick leave granted to people with Covid-19 is only 7 days and will not be extended for an additional three days unless the rapid antigen test on the seventh day turns out positive.
Speaking in a video posted on the Ministry of Public Health Twitter, Director of Hamad General Hospital, Dr Yousef Al Maslamani, said:“On the seventh day of the leave, the infected person must do a rapid antigen test at one of the private centers approved by the Ministry of Health or at one of the health centers and in the event of a negative test, the patient will be able to leave isolation and return to work.”

In case the result is positive then he/she should continue for three more days of isolation.

The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) had said earlier that Individuals who test positive for COVID-19 on a test done at medical facilities and whose Ehteraz changes to red status, will automatically be eligible for 7 days sick-leave.

The decision to reduce the isolation period has been made following a review of the latest local and international clinical evidence showing that most people will be negative by day 7 and pose low or no risk of transferring the virus to others, MoPH added.
