(MENAFN) Germany’s navy ruler left his job when he made debated remarks regarding Russia, which flashed a political disagreement amid Berlin and Kyiv.
According to German news agency DPA, The Defense Ministry updated government’s defense committee that the resignation of Vice Admiral Kai-Achim Schoenbach was confirmed.
The navy leader was under fire for his comments in a workshop conference in India as he stated that Russia will not attack Ukraine, and Leader Vladimir Putin have to be valued.
Ukraine convened the German diplomat and called for Berlin to widely disprove the remarks.
Schoenbach in his speech at the IDSA conference, held down the danger of a Russian attack of Ukraine and supported to start kind relations with Moscow.
He added “Is Russia really interested in having a small, tiny strip of Ukraine soil? To integrate into the country? No, this is nonsense,” saying that Russian leader’s goal was to make separations in European nations, while asking Western countries to respect Russia.
On the words of Schoenbach "What he really wants is respect. He wants respect on a high level. And my God, giving some respect is low cost, even no cost. So if I was asked, it is easy to give him the respect he really demands and probably also deserves.”
