Georgia, Azerbaijan discuss customs cooperation

Georgia's Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Georgia Faig Guliyev discussed customs cooperation issues, Trend reports via Georgia media.

According to Lasha Khutsishvili, a joint trilateral customs committee established between Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Turkey is a unique opportunity to coordinate high-level issues in the field of customs cooperation between the countries.

The active exchange of information between customs administrations will lead to creating a competitive transit corridor and facilitating trade in the region, he said.

The sides also discussed the procedures carried out to ensure the unhindered movement of passengers and cargo transshipment during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Lasha Khutsishvili stressed the importance of the partnership between Georgia and Azerbaijan in the trade, economic, transit, and transport sectors.

According to the ambassador, the Azerbaijani side will continue its efforts to strengthen fruitful cooperation between the customs administrations of the countries.

Georgia's Finance Minister also received an invitation to pay a working visit to Azerbaijan.
