Doha: Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) held a one-week Scout Volunteer Camp for 50 school students in cooperation with KidZania Doha.

It involved diverse activities and training courses to promote health awareness, prevention, and first-aid principles.

The purpose of the event was to develop the skills of children who were from the 6-11 age group, and to educate them on how to deal with emergencies. This would help to create a generation capable of handling emergencies and prepared to respond to accidents that may occur.

Also, the event was aimed at instilling a sense of responsibility into the children, motivating them to participate in such awareness activities, and encouraging them to learn the basic steps of first aid.

Several courses were included in the camp, such as 'Be a Paramedic', 'Make Your Own Kit', and a bunch of competitions and introductory workshops on humanitarian and relief work.

During the opening ceremony, a number of QRCS's doctors and paramedics gave a simplified explanation about the mechanism of providing first aid.

They focused on several basics, including the examination and assessment of the patient's condition, how to seek help, and permanent preparedness to intervene.
