Turkish main stock index drops 5 percent at Tuesday’s close


(MENAFN) The Turkish major stock index ended Tuesday’s session at 1,979.83 points, dropping by 5.08 percent from the last settlement.

After opening the day at 2,082.81 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index dropped 105.93 points from Monday's ending of 2,085.76 points. The lowest index worth throughout the day stood at 1,979.83 points, whereas its highest value amounted at 2,086.27.

The overall market worth of the BIST 100 was about 1.58 trillion Turkish liras (around USD117.6 billion) by market end, with an everyday exchanging capacity of 35.4 billion liras (USD2.6 billion).

Throughout the second trading day of the week, three stocks on the index jumped and 97 dropped in comparison to Monday's end.
