(MENAFN) According to Japanese foreign minister, the Japan-US association is the “cornerstone of peace and prosperity” in the Indo-Pacific area.
Yoshimasa Hayashi informed government, specifying the administration's foreign policy vision “We will further boost the deterrence and response capabilities of the Japan-US alliance, and for that purpose, Japan will need to strengthen its defense capabilities fundamentally.”
But, Hayashi, stated that Japan would try “to establish a constructive and stable Japan-China relationship” by “cooperating on common challenges,” as stated by Tokyo-based Kyodo News.
Both nations celebrate the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic ties in 2022.
Hayashi added “The Japan-US alliance is the cornerstone of peace and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region,” while proposing the “need for Japan to review the National Security Strategy.”
