MFA got no info from Russia about evacuation of diplomats from Ukraine - spokesman

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine received no information from the Russian side about the evacuation of employees of Russian diplomatic missions from Ukraine and it does not plan to evacuate Ukrainian diplomats from Russia, the ministry's spokesperson, Oleg Nikolenko, has told Ukrinform.

'The Ministry of Foreign Affairs received no information from the Russian side about the evacuation of Russian diplomatic staff from Ukraine. The embassies of other countries in Ukraine also did not announce their intention to evacuate their staff,' he said.

Nikolenko added that the ministry does not currently plan to evacuate Ukrainian diplomats from Russia.

'The [Ukrainian] Embassy in Moscow, the consulates general in St. Petersburg and Rostov-on-Don and the consulates in Yekaterinburg and Novosibirsk are operating as normal in Russia,' he said.

According to Nikolenko, despite the difficult conditions, Ukrainian diplomats and consuls continue to successfully perform their tasks, primarily to protect the interests of Ukrainian citizens in Russia.

The New York Times reported earlier, citing its own sources, that Russia had begun evacuating its diplomats and their families from Ukraine.
