Doha: LaLiga Business School, Education Department of LaLiga is collaborating with Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF) to launch an MBA in Sports and Entertainment which will be taught in the country beginning this February.

The development is part of a memorandum of understanding signed in 2019 between the two organisations. The institutions have joined forces on various projects and will now establish this MBA in Sports and Entertainment, in which the study of new marketing, digital and technological disruption transformation, media and entertainment, innovation and entrepreneurship will help prepare the future leaders of the sports and entertainment industry for Qatar, the rest of MENA and beyond.

LaLiga Executive Director, Óscar Mayo, said:“For LaLiga, education is a key pillar of its philosophy as an Institution. We are very happy to have the opportunity to continue sharing LaLiga's expertise in Middle East, in this case in Qatar. We are keen on learning from our partner, Aspire Zone Foundation, as well. This MBA reasserts LaLiga's commitment to professionalize the sporting sector and, in tune with our slogan, 'It's not football. It's LaLiga', this puts us at the forefront of all leagues, not just in sporting terms but in educational standards too.”
For his part, AZF CEO Mohammed Khalifa Al Suwaidi said:“Aspire Zone Foundation is recognised throughout the world as a pioneer in sports innovation and performance. As a global leader, we have partnered with the most esteemed organisations in the world to help us achieve our goals. Hence, comes our partnership with LaLiga. We are proud to collaborate with LaLiga to demonstrate the superiority of our integrated services model as we continue to draw ambitious inspirations from the Qatar National Vision 2030.”

The first term of this new MBA will run from February 2022 to November 2022, with in-person classes held in Doha and with monthly webinars. Additionally, this course will include the kinds of educational visits that have become a highlight of LaLiga Business School programmes, with five-day trips to both London and Madrid already planned.

Those in charge at AZF are excited to draw on the expertise of LaLiga Business School, which was established in 2018 as part of LaLiga's mission to help professionalise the sports industry through theoretical and practical courses. It has been a major success, with students appreciating the fact that the content is developed by professionals and directors who currently work at LaLiga, clubs, leagues or federations and who experience the sports industry every day.

The reputation of LaLiga Business School and its methodology keeps on growing, thanks in part to the MoUs agreed with renowned institutions like the Brazilian football federation's CBF Academy or the Malaysian Football League and with prestigious universities such as Australia's University of Canberra, Egypt's ESLSCA University or the USA's Columbia University.

Already, LaLiga Business School alumni have gone on to work at high-profile and respected organisations, from clubs such as Atlético de Madrid, Real Betis, Levante UD, RCD Mallorca, Cádiz CF or Santos FC to companies like YouFirst Sports, Kosmos or MICSports to leagues such as Liga MX or even LaLiga itself.

The students of the MBA in Qatar can receive a tailored and high-quality education of their own, which will allow the graduates to pursue their own careers in football or other areas of the ever-growing sports and entertainment industry.
