Jordan - 18 Covid fatalities, 5, cases recorded Monday

Amman, Jan 17 (Petra) –– The Ministry of Health said Monday it registered 18 new coronavirus deaths and 5,039 infections, bringing the death toll from the pandemic to 13,004 and the total number of cases to 1,106,066.
About 13.02% of some 38,692 PCR tests taken today came back positive, according to the daily media brief by the ministry and Prime Ministry.
The number of currently active Covid-19 cases stood at 30,419, with 100 admitted today to hospitals that raised to 604 the number of cases still being hospitalized.
On the capacity of hospitals, it said the occupancy rate of isolation beds in the northern region was 12%, intensive care 29% and respirators 12%.
In the central region, the occupancy rate of isolation beds was at 15%, intensive care 27% and respirators 10%, it said.
In the southern region, the occupancy rate of isolation beds was 7%, intensive care 8% and respirators 4%, it said.
The ministry reported 1,392 cases have recovered, bringing total recoveries expected after the end of the 14-day isolation period to 1,062,642.
It also said that the number of recipients of the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine climbed to 4,522,121 and a total of 4,117,790 people have been double-jabbed.
