Amman, Jan. 16 (Petra) -- The return to schools for the second semester of the 2021/2022 academic year is put off to February 20th, according to a decision by the Ministry of Education announced on Sunday.
The decision applies to all public and private schools teaching the national curriculum and it targets the grades from kindergarten to the 11th grade, according to a ministry statement.
The ministry's Central Planning Committee said that only 12th graders (Tawjihi) will start as planned, on February 1st, noting that the decision was necessitated by the epidemiological situation in Jordan and the world.
As for schools with international programs, the committee gave them the option to start on February 20th or start the semester on the set date of February 1st, provided that classes are held remotely through February 20th when in-person education starts Kingdom-wide.
