Srinagar- After crossing 3000-mark for two consecutive days, Coronavirus cases in Jammu and Kashmir witnessed a slight decline on Monday as 2827 more people on Monday tested positive for the virus while five more people succumbed to the deadly infection in the Union Territory during the last 24 hours.
According to the officials, Kashmir Valley registered 1734 fresh cases of novel Coronavirus while 1093 were reported from various districts of Jammu division on Monday, taking the total number of people infected since the outbreak of pandemic in J&K to 362200.
In the Valley, the officials said, Srinagar reported the highest 618 new cases of virus, Baramulla 315, Budgam 295, Anantnag 168, Kupwara 139, Kulgam 57, Pulwama 56, Bandipora 52, Ganderbal 22 and Shopian 12,
In the winter capital, officials said, Jammu registered a maximum of 711 new cases of Coronavirus, Udhampur 122, Samba 52, Rajouri and Ramban 42 each, Reasi 35, Poonch 32, Doda 20 and Kathua 30 each and Kishtwar 7.
“Moreover, 777 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and been discharged from various hospitals including 492 from Jammu Division and285 from Kashmir Division,” the officials said.
Also, they said that five more people died of Covid-19 complications in Jammu division on Monday, raising the death toll in the pandemic to 4572 in J&K —2226 in Jammu and 2346 in Kashmir.
The officials also said that no new cases of Mucormycosis were reported Monday, thus the total number of confirmed casesremains51 across J&K.
5 Employees Test Positive At RTO Kashmir
With five officials already having tested positive for Covid and awaiting the outcome of many others, the Regional Transport Office Kashmir Monday has written to Divisional Commissioner's office to guide it with regard to continuance of public dealings.
“Five officials of this office have been tested COVID positive and many others are having symptoms like fever/cough and sore throat. RT-PCR reports of many officials are still awaited. Besides this, there is huge public rush in view of which it is difficult to follow COVID SOPs”, reads a communiqué made by RTO Kashmir to Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir.
“In view of such a situation this office may kindly be guided as to whether to continue with the public dealings or close it till negative reports are received most likely by the weekend”, the communiqué reads.
Copy of the communiqué has also been forwarded to Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar and Transport Commissioner, J&K, Jammu.
