Afghanistan - 94 VSD cases registered in Kunduz this solar year

KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): Red Crescent Society (RCS) officials in northeastern Kunduz province say 94 cases of Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD), or a hole in the heart, have been reported in the province so far this solar year.

In an exclusive interview with Pajhwok Afghan News, Mohammad Reza Naseri, head of RCS in Kunduz, said that 94 VSD patients had been diagnosed in the province so far this solar year and sent to capital Kabul for better treatment.

Naseri said RCS provided health services in the areas of VSD, burns, bone and other diseases.

However, he said Kunduz province was currently facing a shortage of medicine and government officials should to address the problem.

On the other hand, Aminullah, a resident of Kunduz, told Pajhwok that his daughter had VSD.

Unable to afford his child's treatment, he called on health organizations to help him treat his child.

“My daughter is five years old, she has VSD disease. I am blind myself, I cannot afford to pay for her treatment; I urge RCS to transfer my daughter abroad for treatment,” he said.

RCS sends hundreds of children with VSD abroad, particularly Germany, for treatment and return them to the country after recovery very year.
