Japan remembers Kobe tremor 27th anniversary


(MENAFN) Japan marked the 27th anniversary of the Kobe tremor which took place in 1995 and left 6,434 people dead.

An enormous 7.3 magnitude tremor struck the western Japanese city of Kobe.

Three people are lost till now and almost 10,000 others were harshly wounded and some 640,000 buildings were destroyed.

On Monday morning, the victims’ families and natives stated a moment of silence at 5:46 AM (2046GMT Sunday) in the city, the time when the Great Hanshin Tremor hit the port city in Hyogo area and near areas, according to Tokyo-based Kyodo News.
