Turkish major stock index opens week on high note


(MENAFN) On Monday, the Turkish major stock index started the week at 2,089.72 points, jumping 16.79 points, or 0.81 percent, from the last ending.

On Friday, the BIST 100 index increased by 0.11 percent to end the week at 2,072.93 points, with an everyday exchanging capacity of 34.9 billion Turkish liras (USD2.5 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira trade rate was about 13.5700 as of 9.30 a.m. domestic time (0630GMT), in comparison to 13.5320 at the last ending.

The euro/lira trading rate amounted at 15.4849 from 15.4820, whereas a British pound exchanged for 18.5710 liras, dropping from 18.6020. Brent crude oil was sold for about USD86.37 per barrel on 10 a.m. domestic time.
