Afghanistan - IEA Deputy PM pledges not to squander a penny of levy people pay

Deputy Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan Abdul Salaam Hanafi accused authorities of previous Afghan governments of squandering the tax paid by people in the past two decades.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the levy week in Finance Ministry on Saturday, January 15, 2022, Abdul Salaam Hanafi said that authorities in the past twenty years would merely seek personal interests.

The Deputy PM said that they will be levying transparently and will transfer all the money they collect to the government treasury.

He added not to squander a penny of the tax they collect and will use all the money to deliver aid to the Afghan people.

In the meantime, Deputy Minister of Information and Culture Zabiullah Mujahid said that tax play a key role in the development of a country.

He asked people to pay tax to do their part in rebuilding Afghanistan.
