Jordan - GAM announces state of moderate alert to deal with weather conditions

Amman, Jan. 14 (Petra)-- The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) on Friday announced a state of moderate alert to deal with depression expected that prevails in the Kingdom and accompanies by heavy rainfall and strong winds, according to the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD).
The GAM Spokesperson Nasser al-Rahamneh called on the public to contact the main emergency room numbers in the Tla' Al-Ali area 065359970 or 065359971 or mobile 0798166789, and operations rooms of the 22 sub-areas of the GAM, in case they monitored anything related the weather.
He urged people living in low-lying areas to relocate to higher ground, and called on the public to remove objects from their rooftops and yards that could be blown away by strong winds.
Al-Rahamneh also urged households to refrain from connecting their drainage pipes to manholes in the street, as the practice places additional pressure on the sewage system and causes manholes to flood.
