How to speed up recovery from COVID-19 or any wintertime fever in India with this diet plan

(MENAFN- Times Applaud) DrDeeptaNagpal, a Clinical Dietician, has shared her tips on dealing with a wintertime fever. But, you can use the same diet plan to fight Covid fever.

The COVID-19 pandemic may have started in Wuhan (China) and spread throughout the world.
However, it is still a relatively new virus for us human beings, mutating and evolving and leaving us bewildered about how to deal with its infestation.

Variants of COVID-19 including Alpa, Beta, Gamma, Delta, and now Omicron have all continued to evolve and grow. Meanwhile, doctors and clinical dieticians have refined their treatment regimens for combating the new coronavirus with medications and food.

When unwell with COVID-19, one perplexing factor is “what to eat?” What is risk-free? What isn’t there? How should you handle groceries or even food prepared by someone else?

Given that it is also winter in the Northern Hemisphere, one would question what a wintertime fever diet should consist of.

DeeptaNagpal, a Clinical Dietitian with a focus on chronic illnesses, spoke with us.
She has been a double gold medalist since her university days and has also served as the Diet Counselor to India’s then-President (Late Dr APJ Abdul Kalam).

During her 15-year career, she has worked in prestigious facilities such as AIIMS in New Delhi, PGIMER in Chandigarh, and Army Research & Referral Hospital in New Delhi. She is currently located in Europe.

We believe she has just the appropriate diet for any fever, not just COVID-19, because she is known to support mindfulness, a macrobiotic diet, and the incorporation of Ayurvedic concepts into her patients’ modern lifestyles.

Here are some nutrition advice from MsDeeptaNagpal, a Clinical Dietician, especially when you have a fever in the winter.

“Drink plenty of fluids,” says the doctor.

Nagpal warns that because fever can cause fluid loss and dehydration, it is critical to drink water, juices, or broth. Tulsi (Holy Basil)+Ginger water, chicken soup, clear vegetable broth, kehwa, green tea… she offers a variety of possibilities.

If you are okay with eating non-vegetarian food, Nagpal recommends drinking bone broth to aid in recuperation.

DeeptaNagpal recommends slow-cooked vegetable stew with tofu or moong for individuals who choose a vegetarian/vegan diet only.

Check your Vitamin D levels as well, and consult your doctor about supplementation if necessary.

Stay calm and activate your Vagus Nerve Complex: What’s the deal with Covid? Count on your Vagus nerve to help you overcome anxiety and reclaim your health like a boss. In just a few days, you may enhance your stress response and feel more peaceful.

The vagus nerve is known as the body’s care-taking nerve because it originates in the centre of the brain and extends all the way to the gut. Learn Pranayam, a yoga regulated breathing practise.

Diaphragmatic breathing has been demonstrated to reduce cortisol levels almost immediately: simply breathe into the ribcage for five seconds via the nose and out for ten seconds through the mouth to activate the vagus nerve.
