Doha: Head of Vaccination at the Ministry of Public health (MoPH), Dr. Soha Al Bayat, has said that we are now witnessing the beginning of the third wave of coronavirus (Covid-19) in Qatar.
People are urged to take booster vaccine as most of the cases referred to hospitals have not taken the vaccine or those who took the two doses more than 6 months ago and note taken booster dose yet, she added.
Al Bayat affirmed that“no one entered intensive care as a result of side effects from taking the COVID-19 vaccine in the first, second, or third“booster” dose.”
Speaking on Qatar TV, she said that the patients who died last week due to covid-19 did not take the vaccine, and even the patients who need intensive care did not take booster dose.
She advised patients with mild symptoms that“it is very safe for the patient to be isolated at home in a separate room for the first 5 days and then can move outside the room wearing mask and abiding social distance for another 5 days before leaving the house,” Al Bayat said.
Al Bayat also affirmed that the rapid antigen test has proven to be 80 percent accurate and is available in all health centers.
About the increase in cases, she noted that“most of the Covid-19 cases reported recently were in two groups, those who did not receive vaccination including children and those who took the two doses more than 6 months ago.”
