After omicron worries in US markets, Dow Jones loses 500 points


(MENAFN) On Friday, The Dow Jones decreased at least 500 points since Omicron worries forced US shares to plummet, while the blue-chip Dow fell 532 points, or 1.48 percent, to 35,365 at the last warning.

The S&P 500 decreased 48, or 1.02 percent, to 4,620, and The Nasdaq fell 10 points, or 0.07 percent, to 15,169, improving a little from a drop start.

Worries over the Omicron variant increased the VIX volatility index 5.1 percent to 21.62, as well as the dollar index that rose 0.66 percent to 96.68, and the yield on 10 years US Treasury notes plummeted 0.7 percent to 1.412 percent.
