Dr Manzoor's Book 'Nashe-e-Khai' on Drug Addiction released

SRINAGAR- A Book launching ceremony of Dr Manzoor Nazzar's Book“Nash-E-Khai” was held at hotel Shahenshah on Saturday. The book release function was organised by Raahat De-Addiction Centre in collaboration with Kashmir Fiction Writers Guild. The event was attended by a large number of people from diverse backgrounds.

Dr Manzoor's book is based on the evils of Drug addiction. It has been written in Kashmiri language and has 38 Chapters, 364 pages. It brings forth the journey of Drug addicts and what leads them to take this path. The ways to come out of the drug menace have also been penned down in the book.

Speakers on the occasion praised the author for his literary works against Drug Addiction. They noted that the drug menace was behind the rising Hepatitis cases in the valley and steps must be taken to put an end to drug addiction among young people. Speaking on the occasion Syed Hanif Balkhi, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar said that a drug addict creates problems for everyone including his family. It is important to remain away from drug menace.

“Everyone among us should go through this book, it is an important read”, he noted.

Retd. Justice Bashir Ahmed Kirmani said that everyone in the society needs to do his bit to curb the rising drug addiction in the society.

“Some decades back Faith in God was strong and drug addiction was less and nowadays the situation is opposite”.

“A lot more needs to be done to curb drug menace, young people need to be made aware about the drug menace but it is important to reach out to them” he added.

On the Occasion several people presented their reviews of the book including Dr Nasir Shams, Dr Muzaffar Khan, Mushtaq Barq and Shakeel Ur Rehman. The book was praised for the details it covers on drug addiction and the steps that can be done to curb drug menace. The session was moderated by Shabir Ahmed. Later free copies of the book were distributed among the participants of the event.
