Over 7 years, effective anti-graft system built in Ukraine - NABU director

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Over the last 7 years, Ukraine has managed to create an effective anti-corruption system.

That's according to Artem Sytnyk, Director of the National Anti-corruption Bureau of Ukraine, who spoke at the 'Seven Years of Anti-Corruption Reform' conference in Kyiv on Thursday, December 9, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

'We have built an effective anti-corruption system and brought to justice the people whom it was previously seen as impossible to hold liable,' the watchdog chief said.

According to the NABU director, over the past years, Ukraine's anti-corruption bodies have come along the path where the public harbored some high hopes for bringing corrupt officials to justice, as well as for quick decision-making, such as the appointment of the head of the Special Anti-corruption Prosecutor's Office.

Sytnyk noted that throughout this period, NABU managed to establish effective cooperation with other anti-corruption bodies operating the country. And now the Bureau, SAPO, and the High Anti-corruption Court work as one, the official added.

The NABU chief also stated that the Bureau now considers it necessary to focus on corruption prevention, as well as on educating the population to have zero tolerance to any graft manifestations.
