Britain vows GBP 1B to support Ukraine - Zelensky


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine has said the United Kingdom will allocate GBP 1 billion in a bid to support the country.

Zelensky broke the news on Twitter , according to Ukrinform.

“Great news from London: UK will allocate an additional £1-billion in support for Ukraine. That means new investments, trade, security,” President Zelensky wrote on the evening of Wednesday, December 8.

As a result of his negotiations with Boris Johnson held last year, the total volume of British support thus increases to GBP3.5 billion, the tweet adds.

In turn, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, elaborated on the assistance package.

“Concluded our preparatory meeting of the UK-Ukraine Strategic Dialogue in London. Grateful for decisions proving that Kyiv and London are close allies. Additionally allocated resources will enable projects in infrastructure, healthcare and clean energy,” Kuleba tweeted.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, late November, Ukraine received from the International Monetary Fund the second tranche of the loan provided under the existing Stand-By Arrangement, worth SDR 500 million (US$699 million).
