Vladimir Putin expresses congratulations to Germany’s new chancellor


(MENAFN) On Wednesday, Vladimir Putin, President of Russia expressed congratulations to Olaf Scholz who was appointed as new chancellor of Germany, bringing the curtain down on Angela Merkel’s historic 16-year term.

According to Putin statement in a telegram, released on the Kremlin website, ties between both countries have been of huge significance for so long not only for the citizens of Russia and Germany but also for the entire of Europe.

The Russian President stated, “I look forward to establishing a constructive dialogue with you and working together on topical issues on the bilateral and international agenda. This would undoubtedly meet the fundamental interests of Russians and Germans, and would contribute to strengthening stability and security at the regional and global level.”

In a different message, he showed "sincere gratitude" to Merkel for rewarding collaboration and willingness for jointly respectful discourse.
