NATO commands Russia to diminish row with Ukraine border crisis

(MENAFN) On Wednesday, Jens Stoltenberg, NATO Secretary-General commanded that Russia should diminish its tensions with bordering Ukraine in an attempt to find a solution to the row politically.

Stoltenberg reported to Friedrich-Ebert Foundation located in Berlin through video, "we call on Russia to de-escalate and reduce tensions (with Ukraine) and to be transparent about their intentions." And added "we really hope that this time Russia will not use military force but respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of a sovereign and independent state in Europe – Ukraine.”

Stoltenberg cautioned of a "very serious situation" amidst the mounting Russian-Ukrainian fight. He also blamed Moscow of "not wanting Ukraine to be an independent and sovereign nation."

Russia, Ukraine as well as NATO have increased armed actions as tensions have escalated during latest weeks as Kyiv has publicly blamed Moscow of preparing to perform an attack.
