(MENAFN) According to official numbers announced on Wednesday, in the Turkish state, a sum of 270.9 billion (USD38.58 billion) Turkish liras was spent the previous year on education, increasing by 4.5 percent on a yearly basis.

Based on data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat), the portion of education in the nation's gross domestic product stood at 5.4 percent the previous year, decreasing from 6 percent two years ago. A year ago, the average USD/TRY trading rate was 7.02.
