Emirati government announces significant change to working week

The UAE's weekend, which was Friday and Saturday from 2006, would then change to Saturday and Sunday in 2020, introducing it to resemble most countries in the world. People will work from Monday through Thursday, with Fridays half-off. The governments of Dubai and Abu Dhabi announced that their staff would work the exact hours.

According to the UAE Government Media Department, the judgment "will better align the Emirates with global markets, reflecting the country's strategic status on the global economic map."
