(MENAFN) Experts in central Turkey finished arrangements to remember the 748th anniversary death of Mevlana Jalaluddin al-Rumi, who is well-known in the West as Rumi, a 13th-century mystic, poet, and philosopher.
Supported by the Culture and Tourism Ministry, 10 days of commemoration ceremonies are going to be organized in the city of Konya, where Rumi is buried, with regional and foreign guests.
The death of Rumi on December 17, 1273, is recognized as Seb-i Arus – or the wedding night, a mention to Rumi's reunion with God.
Many events are going to be planned in the ceremonies, in addition to symposiums, exhibits, and workshops, and the well-known ceremonial of the whirling dervishes.
