KABUL (Pajhwok): A Pakistani NGO has established a business centre in Arandu area of Chitral across the Durand Line to boost trade links between two sides.

The Sarhad Rural Support Programme (SRSP) said the center had been established keeping in view future business relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

People, particularly the business community, on both sides would benefit from the business center, hoped the SRSP CEO.

This community-managed business center is comprised of 20 shops, offices, a mosque and eight public washrooms.

The centre in Pakistan's Chitral valley is expected to play a pivotal role in building cross-border relationships between the peoples of the region.

The business center was inaugurated by SRSP CEO Shahzada Masood Ul Mulk along with government officials on Tuesday.

It is expected that Afghan traders would also benefit from this business facility, built with the financial assistance of PATRIP Foundation of Germany.

Arandu is a small town of Chitral district, bordering Kunar and Nuristan provinces of Afghanistan. Arandu was a business hub when there were no border restrictions.

It is again hoped that in near future Arandu and Dokalam (Afghanistan) will once turn into active business hubs.
