Corona Claims 4 More Lives In J&K

Srinagar: Four more people died of coronavirus in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday while 132 fresh cases of infection were detected in the Union Territory during the last 24 hours.

According to officials, four more people—two each from Kashmir and Jammu divisions succumbed to the deadly infection on Tuesday, taking the overall fatality count in J&K to 4487—2188 in Jammu and 2299 in the Valley.

About the new cases, officials said, 103 were reported from Kashmir division and the remaining 29 from different parts of the Jammu division, thus taking the number of people infected by virus to 338047

In the Valley, officials said, Srinagar reported highest 32 fresh cases of coronavirus, Budgam 25, Baramulla 19, Kupwara 8, Bandipora and Ganderbal 6 each, Pulwama 5 and one new case each in Anantnag and Kulgam districts. Shopian was the only district in Valley where no fresh cases were reported on Tuesday.

In the winter capital, officials said, Jammu reported a maximum of 14 new coronavirus cases; Doda 7, Kathua and Poonch 3 each and one new case each from Udhampur and Rajouri districts. No fresh cases were registered in the four districts of Samba, Kishtwar, Reasi and Ramban.

“Moreover, 188 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and been discharged from various hospitals including 26from Jammu Division and 162 from Kashmir Division,” the officials added.
