Turkish president supports enhancing relations with Gulf countries

(MENAFN) The Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated on Monday before an official trip to Qatar that his country supports sustaining unity and solidarity with the Gulf countries, and enhancing relations.

Turkey-Qatar ties are going to carry on in a "much more productive way," Erdogan stated to reporters at Ataturk Airport before departing Istanbul to head for Doha, Qatar's capital.

Highlighting the significance of more collaboration with Doha, the president stated that Turkish businessmen have conducted about USD15 billion work in Qatar.

He mentioned, "in addition to Qatar, we are trying to improve our cooperation with other countries in the Gulf."

The president also emphasized, "we welcome the diplomatic efforts to reopen dialogue channels and clear up misunderstandings in the Gulf region."
