Iran produces over 17m tons of sponge iron

(MENAFN) According to IRNA, sponge iron output in Iran amounted at 17.082 million tons during the period from March 21 till October 22 of the present Iranian calendar year. The news agency also stated, sponge iron production amounted at 2.563 million tons during the seventh month of this current year.

Direct reduced iron (DRI), also called sponge iron, is manufactured through the straight reduction of iron ore (in the shape of lumps, pellets, or fines) into iron using reduced gas or elemental carbon obtained from natural gas or coal. Many ores are appropriate for the process of direct reduction.

As Iran is battling the U.S. strict restrictions on its economy, and the nation’s different industrial and economic fields have been impacted by the constraints and challenges initiated by the sanctions state, the nation’s mining field is prominently going ahead, conquering such difficulties.

Amongst the mining field’s different goods, sponge iron is a special example, as the output of this product is increasing more and more in the nation.
