Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine creator warns of new virus effects

(MENAFN) One of the creators in the Oxford-AstraZeneca Coronavirus immunization reported that a new pandemic looms around putting the lives of human beings at risk, with a faster spread rate and lethal effect.

While giving the 44th significant Richard Dimbleby Lecture, Prof Dame Sarah Gilbert mentioned that the scientific developments achieved in research for combating fatal viruses “must not be lost”.

Prof Gilbert noted, “This will not be the last time a virus threatens our lives and our livelihoods,” and “the truth is, the next one could be worse. It could be more contagious, or more lethal, or both.”

She continued to say that “we cannot allow a situation where we have gone through all we have gone through, and then find that the enormous economic losses we have sustained mean that there is still no funding for pandemic preparedness,” adding “the advances we have made and the knowledge we have gained must not be lost.”
