(MENAFN) On Friday, a World Health Organization spokesperson stated that the health organization has not reported any deaths concerning the newly-detected strain of Covid-19, Omicron and highlighted that delta stays the emphasis of the battle against the epidemic.
At a UN news meeting, WHO spokesperson Christian Lindmeier stated to journalists that the health organization is still gathering data on the new strain that was discovered in southern Africa on Nov. 11 and called omicron around one week ago.
Lindmeier stated, "we have not seen reports of omicron-related deaths yet."
She also added, "let's also not forget that the predominant variant right now still remains the delta variant. Omicron may be on the rise, and we may come to a point where it takes over as the dominant variant."
