Cop Escapes Unhurt In Militant Attack

Srinagar- A railway policeman on Saturday had a close shave after suspected militants fired shots at him in Awantipora area of south Kashmir's Pulwama district.

According to reports, an unknown pheran-clad militant appeared in Dogripora village of the Awantipora on Saturday evening and fired shots towards a railway policeman when he was entering a tea stall. Though the cop escaped unhurt in the attack, additional reinforcements of police and CRPF quickly reached the area to nab the attackers.

As per CCTV footage of the incident, a militant took out a weapon and fired indiscriminately as soon as the railway cop entered a tea stall. Thereafter he runs away. After some time, a number of people come out of the tea stall.

A police officer said that the railway policeman was“safe”.

“After attack , militants went inside Dogripora village. The village has been cordoned off and searches are underway,” the officer added. (With GNS inputs)
