Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice in Manchester United's 3-2 win over Arsenal to surpass 800 goals of his career for club and country.

The 800th goal came in the 52nd minute of the match at Old Trafford, he, then, scored No. 801 when he converted from the penalty spot in the 70th minute.

Ronaldo has scored 686 club goals for Sporting Lisbon, United, Real Madrid, and Juventus, and 115 goals for Portugal.

There is some debate over his status as the most prolific scorer in men's football, with Brazil's Pele and Romario both claiming over 1,000 goals, but statisticians say Portugal's forward tops the scoring charts in official competitions.

Cristiano Ronaldo also leads the UEFA Champions League in all-time goals scored, scoring a total of 135 goals.

Ronaldo, who has previously finished as a top goalscorer in England's Premier League, Spain's LaLiga, and Italy's Serie A — while also winning the respective leagues and domestic cups on multiple occasions — is also the man with the most Champions League medals in the modern era with five victories.

Ronaldo's 800th goal came just over two years after he reached 700, and he has scored 338 goals in 372 matches since turning 30.

Ronaldo is United's top scorer this season with 12 goals in 16 appearances in all competitions. His brace against Arsenal took United up to seventh.
