The Government has assured that a lockdown will not be enforced during Christmas.

Cabinet co-spokesman Dr. Ramesh Pathirana said that the country was reopened following the success of the vaccination program.

He said that reopening the country does not mean the virus has been fully controlled in Sri Lanka.

Speaking to reporters today, the Cabinet co-spokesman asserted that no one is fully safe yet from the virus.

The Minister appealed to the public to act with responsibility and ensure the protection of their families and themselves during the festive season.

He said the public must ensure they wear face masks and maintain social distancing.

The Minister said the future depends on the behaviour of each and every individual. (Colombo Gazette)
