Saudi Arabia criticizes Isaac Herzog visit to Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron

(MENAFN) Saudi Arabia doomed the visit of Israeli Leader Isaac Herzog to the Ibrahimi Mosque in the West Bank city of Hebron to mark the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah.

According to Saudi Arabia official news company SPA, the act is a "flagrant violation of the sanctity of the mosque," referring to a report by the Saudi Foreign Ministry.

The ministry added the decision is "hostile and provokes feelings of Muslims all over the world," and marked that the Israeli conquest allows the costs of this act.

Herzog went to the mosque to join a candle lighting ceremony while celebrating Hanukkah holiday.

Israeli experts separated the mosque complex amid Muslim and Jewish worshippers following the 1994 massacre of 29 Palestinian worshippers in the mosque by rebel Jewish colonist Baruch Goldstein.
