Doha: Al Rayyan International University College (ARIU), in partnership with University of Derby, hosted an International Cultural Day, the purpose of which was to raise awareness amongst students and faculty about different cultures and traditions.
ARIU with University of Derby is the only university in the country offering Bachelor's and Master's degrees in International Business Management, International Hospitality Management, and International Tourism Management. Therefore, the university puts a lot of emphasis on the importance of cultural understanding and inclusion, which is fully integrated within the university's academic curricula.
The event was organised by students at the university, who come from more than 45 different nationalities. Students represented their own country by displaying national costumes, preparing and serving traditional dishes, and performing traditional dancing.
The event was a chance for international and domestic students to come together and share their culture, heritage, and experiences. The International Cultural Day also provided students with an opportunity to learn more about the traditions in different countries, to embrace individual differences, and to celebrate cultural diversity. University staff members, who come from more than 17 different nationalities also participated in the event.
