Honduras starts political elections


(MENAFN) On Sunday, polling started in Honduras since diplomatic polls launched in the Central American nation.

Twelve applicants are competing for the top post, including over 5 million voters listed to join the elections to select the leader, in addition to three vice leaders, 128 deputies in the National Congress, 20 deputies in the Central American Parliament, and 298 provincial mayors.

The National Electoral Council (CNE) stated that polling is taking place at 7 AM local time (1300GMT) at 5,735 voting centers in the 18 areas of Honduras.

The military and police applied extensive safety restrictions to guarantee the security of the polls.
