Germany: US penalties against Nord Stream 2 pipeline endanger relations

(MENAFN) US’s German Embassy supposedly gave the US congress a report including that the gas pipeline has zero risk on Ukraine or the European Union, and mentioning that recent regulations could endanger relations between America and Germany, in addition to undermining the US government’s reliability.

Axios mentioned, in reference to freshly gained papers, the government of Germany has urged American congressmen not to enforce penalties on the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, highlighting that this move could “damage transatlantic unity.”

The German side reported, signaling the document to be “classified”, “US Sanctions targeting Nord Stream 2 would undermine the commitment given to Germany in the Joint Statement, weaken the credibility of the US government, and endanger the achievements of the Joint Statement, including the provisions supporting Ukraine.”
