United States: Digital sales on Thanksgiving Day reach USD5.1B

(MENAFN) On Friday, Nov. 26 according to Adobe Digital Insights (ADI) data release, web-based purchases in America reached USD5.1 billion on Thanksgiving Day, falling short of expectations.

On Thanksgiving Day, the online market research company predicted internet shopping sales to reach USD5.1-USD5.9 billion. Whereas this year's e-commerce estimate was similar to last year's, online shopping was up nearly 21 percent from Thanksgiving Day two years ago.

The lower-than-expected internet-based purchases might be due to international supply chain problems and American buyers beginning their holiday shopping early this year, which begins on Nov. 1 and ends on New Year's Eve. Nevertheless, according to ADI, e-commerce expenditure seems to be exceeding USD200 billion for a first in all-times especially the current season, approaching USD207 billion.
