Palestine voices worry for new B.1.1.529 virus


(MENAFN) When Israel recorded its first case, Palestine voiced worries over the expansion of the new coronavirus variant named B.1.1.529 or Omicron.

Kamal al-Shakhra, a spokesperson of the ministry announced the Palestinian Health Ministry is going to suggest that the administration experts increase measures at crossing points and frontiers as a cautionary restriction.

Al-Shakhra added "the danger of the new variant lies in the rapid spread" and that the ministry of health and its workers "are ready to take the necessary measures to confront the new variant."

He went on to state that the health ministry and worried experts recognized the parts in the West Bank admired by foreign tourists, particularly the cities of Bethlehem and Jericho, since Christmas is coming.
