(MENAFN) British Premier Boris Johnson declared strengthening of coronavirus measures when the Omicron variant of the virus was detected in the UK, as testing and tracing are going to be tightened, and requested to wear indoor masking.
Johnson said at a media session, relying on what is recognized until now, the newly detected coronavirus strain is more spreadable than current variants, and “can be spread between people who are double-vaccinated”.
He as well stated a number of new “targeted and precautionary measures” to decrease its extent in the country and “buy time” for experts to study the variant.
