(MENAFN) On Saturday army of Sudan stated that its forces fought with Ethiopian military and allied militia forces after they went into a conflicted area.
The military declared that the Sudanese forces caused heavy losses of life and equipment throughout the fighting in the Al Fashaqa Al Sughra area.
The army stated that the Sudanese side underwent a “number of martyrs”, without providing particular details. But, a news agency cited military sources as stating six Sudanese armed forces were murdered.
These were the first fights in months in Al Fashaqa. The two sides battled a series of fights there late 2020 when Sudanese army moved in to reclaim power of the fertile enclave long inhabited by Ethiopian farmers, who are sheltered by government-allied militias.
