Somalian global partners call for reliable, obvious polls


(MENAFN) Somalia’s worldwide associates requested the completion of the continuing polls for the lower house of government in a clear, inclusive, and reliable way earlier the closing date on December 24.

The UN, US, UK, Russia, Turkey, Germany, France, European Union, African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Ethiopia, Finland, Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), Ireland, Italy, Japan, Kenya, League of Arab States (LAS), Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Qatar, Sudan, Sweden, Switzerland, and Uganda reached a mutual declaration.

The declaration said “We call for full transparency in all related processes, including selection committee appointments, delegates selection, candidate registration, the reservation of seats for women candidates, to comply with the agreed 30 percent quota, and the management of candidate fees.”
